Not only a ‘Red Dot’ (Bindi), but a ‘Feather’ too

The focal point of creating this art is “Transformation of identity in Indo-Māori multicultural marriages”

The “Dot” refers to the Bindi worn by the Hindu majority religion of India, and “Feather” is a revered treasure for Māori people in New Zealand, wearing it on occasions.

When people from separate cultures join to make a couple, it is important to preserve their own identity and assimilate the new culture of partner.

When a Hindu Indian girl marries a person of different race (Māori person), they step into a new world. It enhances marriage by bringing a new level of richness and beauty and tradition.
